Our publication is a multi faceted and multi medium forum of interactive information, instruction, and community representation. Please become involved, utilize it and explore all the resources that your GLBT&Friends community has to offer you.
We represent more the conservative GLBT community in hopes to foster better relations with the mainstream community. We maintain polite manners, preserve dignity and always promote compassion through educating. By showcasing that in more instances than not, we are a good and decent, stable, law-abiding, ethical and a moral group of tax paying, hard working, neighbours, brothers and sisters looking for nothing more than the opportunities to pursue life, liberty and happiness.
Our mission is to share all the wonderful things we have been able to create, develop and produce here as the Hampton Roads GLBT&Friends community.
To unbiasedly address some of the harder topics of the day and develop discussions that could encourage action and resolutions.
To positively promote the GLBT&Friends community and educate on GLBT&Friends relationship with the mainstream conservative community.
To further promote equal rights for the GLBT&Friends by actively engaging the public in politics and policy discussion.
To continue to create jobs and employment opportunities. In a faltering economy we are looking to grow and expand.
To continue our ventures into many different areas of electronic media production that will in time produce a cooperative of exciting new online information and entertainment content and experiences.
To provide quality entertaining and informative content
EDITOR'S BLOG
About one year ago I began to take notice of a few things plaguing the GLBT community here in Hampton roads. among those things the relationship the GLBT community has with the general public (public image/opinion), the resources for the GLBT community (resource/support), equality - civil liberties and legal issues, the economic and educational situations of our GLBT community, employment, and political representation.
Deciding
I had to tackle at least a few of these topics/subjects and do my
part... wanting to bring the community together in action to achieve
something positive I considered a few options... and online
media was a good fit...

..over the past year we have been working on developing a format in which we could be proactive in the community and provide work for the community and build collaborations to further promote the community. (we had to figure out something that could do all three and be not only an asset to the community but a haven for the community as well) So with a group of young and inexperienced people who had heart and needed a fresh start we set out to engage the real GLBT Community and our friends (who incidentally are everywhere from the garden centers to the corporate world, even in the political arena too!).
Getting involved and becoming a partner in the community hoping to achieve something positive I considered a few options; Becoming more involved politically, taking time to attend events such as EV Lobby Day and Mayor Fraim's campaign for re-election, writing letters to Representatives and reading up on all i could find about making change in policy and supporting political process. I also began to venture out more into the GLBT community, exploring the 'scene'; going to a number of bars, clubs and gay themed events including Mike Thomas Presents OVPP which GLBT OMG cosponsored this year's spring event May 22 2010 and plans to cosponsor future MTP events such as this June 22, 2010's Pier Party for the Gay Men's Chorus. Also, I began to come out to more people more readily, addressing in conversation topics that affect the GLBT community. When I say come out more I mean I was just more courageous to speak on subjects such as equal rights and injustices the GLBT must endure. I was openly discussing with everyone their view points and opinions when concerning the GLBT community both gay and straight. I also took a proactive and direct part in helping men and women in our community by providing employment opportunities, educational resources and financial aide.
Over time we realized a great way to showcase all that we have been doing was to create a Lifestyle Magazine. No one had a bit of magazine or editorial experience around here, even computers were not our thing when this project began but we have now come to grow into a pretty well run group of people who kinda know what they are doing and having fun making it happen along the way. We are not only publishers of three online GLBT&Friends magazines but we are working on developing a unique system for special needs people through electronic mediums now available to us as well as writing and producing a reality series on coming out. Our unique format is allowing us to provide jobs through a number of new and exciting ventures so please in the coming weeks pay attention to our classifieds section and expand your possibilities in the job market by becoming part of GLBT OMG.
This is TogetherVA .com a multi media and fully interactive online magazine, a first for the conservative GLBT community here in Hampton Roads. The community as it reveals itself truly reveals who we are as a whole, not leaving our representation a reflection of only the more outspoken and colourful members of our community but a real look into who we are as an integrated vibrant, valid and valuable part of society.
Our publication has room for growth and expansion and we hope that you share with us your stories, lives, adventures and aspirations. As a public forum the GLBT OMG Publications of TogetherVA.com m4mlife.com and w4wlife.com are here to give a place for you to pull up a soap box, put on your thinking cap or sit back and be informed and entertained.
